Dive into a summer of discovery! This year's Summer Reading Program turns the library into your launchpad for new worlds, characters, and ideas. Six unique in-person presenters will engage and educate you with specialized programming designed for your enjoyment.
Each book opens a different door—and we've added rewards for completing themed reading quests, along with minutes read. Whether you're a voracious reader or just getting started, there's a story waiting for you.
The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is designed for children ranging from kindergarten to high school. Pre-K children are encouraged to participate in the "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" program, which also has fun incentives.
Join our Wednesday programs at 1 p.m. If you’re unable to attend the programs, don’t worry—you can still participate in the SRP. Feel free to drop by whenever we’re open to sign up and begin your reading adventure, and start reaping the rewards!
Everyone who signs up receives a reading log and a choice of a free book.
For every 15 minutes your child reads, add a sticker to the reading log.
The child shows us their reading log and turns in a completed log whenever we are open. Our volunteers will initial the logs at 150 minutes and 300 minutes. (15 minutes equals one dot. Ten dots is 150 minutes.)
All completed reading logs must be submitted to a staff member to record the minutes read.
SRP Incentive Process
150 minutes (10 dots) - free book plus guessing jar entry
300 minutes (20 dots) - Backpack, free book, plus two guessing jar entries. One backpack per child. (Pre-K children receive a book bag while supplies last.)
This process will continue throughout the program. All reading logs must be turned in by Saturday, August 1st, in order for the hours to count. Sorry, no reading logs will be accepted on August 5th.
Bonus Books: Read any of our selected bonus books on program topics to earn more books and extra guesses in the guessing jar!
Completed Books: When a child completes a book, write down the book's name on a paper chain link or the back of your reading log. Turn in your completed chain links to a staff member.
