Calling all comic book and graphic novel fans! The Canyonville Community Library is launching the Kids Summer Comic Book Club, and we want you there. Join us every Thursday from June 11th through August 6th at 11:30 a.m. to discover amazing comics, connect with fellow fans, and learn to create your own comic book. Open to kids aged 7 and up. All supplies and snacks provided—feel free to jump in during any session!
June 11th, 2026: Introduction to the Club, Tour of Canyonville Library comic/graphic novel selections, and/or bring your favorite to share. Aspects of Comics: Drawing, Storytelling, Humor & Putting It Together.
June 18th, 2026 - Drawing & Art: Using different fonts, draw one letter as many different ways as you can. Write your name in crazy fonts.
June 25th, 2026 - One-page humor superhero challenge. Group decides whether to create a group comic or a compilation of individual comics.
July 2, 2026 - OFF. Enjoy the 4th of July Holiday!
July 9th, 2026 - Comic Brainstorming activities.
July 16th, 2026 - Pick your own comic story. Multiple activities.
July 23rd, 2026 - Writing a group comic Character, Goal: How to Achieve Goal, Obstacle for Goal, How to Solve their Problem, Start comic book pages.
July 30th, 2026- Working on a group or individual comic.
August 6th, 2026 - Hand out completed comic book story. Kids who participate will be given a blank comic book to take home.
